Brazilian Rare Earths (ASX:BRE) announces a 568 Mt maiden resource for the Amargosa Project in Bahia, Brazil, confirming large-scale bauxite potential with 27 million kg of gallium for semiconductor and defence industries.

Brazilian Rare Earths (ASX:BRE) has announced a maiden mineral resource estimate for its Amargosa Bauxite-Gallium Project, confirming the discovery of a “large-scale, high-quality” bauxite province in northeastern Brazil. The resource totals 568 million tonnes of total available alumina (TAA), including a significant gallium component, positioning the company as a potential key supplier for the global semiconductor and advanced materials sectors.

Resource Highlights

The maiden resource comprises:

  • 98 million tonnes of direct-ship bauxite grading 41.9% TAA
  • 191 million tonnes of processed bauxite grading 40.8% TAA
  • 27.09 million kilograms of contained gallium at 47.7 parts per million (ppm)

With a market capitalization of US$1 billion, Brazilian Rare Earths emphasized that these results confirm Amargosa as a world-class bauxite province with a high-grade direct-ship product comparable to the Guinean metallurgical-grade benchmark.

Strategic Importance of Gallium

Beyond alumina, the Amargosa deposit also represents a significant source of gallium, a critical element for the production of semiconductors, high-performance magnets, and defence technologies. This aligns the project with growing global efforts to secure strategic mineral supply chains essential for energy transition and technological sovereignty.

CEO Statement and Development Path

Company CEO Bernardo da Velga described the discovery as transformative for Brazil’s emerging rare earths and bauxite industries:

“The maiden resource defines a large-scale, high-quality bauxite province with premium alumina grades and low reactive silica. With direct highway access to bulk-export logistics in a tier-one jurisdiction, we see a clear path to an early, capital-efficient direct-ship bauxite operation, scalable through a large-scale processed bauxite opportunity.”

A Scoping Study, scheduled for completion by the end of 2025, will outline Amargosa’s development scenarios, including production models and long-term value creation strategies.

About the Amargosa Project

Located in the state of Bahia, Amargosa is an advanced exploration-stage asset within Brazilian Rare Earths’ district-scale rare earths province. The project benefits from established infrastructure and proximity to export corridors, providing a solid foundation for development as a tier-one bauxite and gallium supplier.
