Soma Gold (TSX-V: SOMA) has significantly expanded the copper soil anomaly at its Psyche 2 target within the Machuca Project in Antioquia, Colombia, reinforcing the target’s exploration potential ahead of a maiden drill program.
The company has extended the anomaly by an additional 2.5 kilometres, bringing its total length to 4.5km, following the collection of 510 new soil samples earlier this year.
Soma has now collected 1,394 soil samples across Psyche 2 as part of its systematic geochemical grid. The latest sampling was completed at 50m intervals along lines spaced 200m apart, extending coverage across the full north–south magnetic anomaly, which averages 325m in width.
Assays have been received for 1,291 samples, while the remaining 103 samples are pending multi-element results.
Key assay results include:
These results highlight a strong geochemical signature and suggest a mineralized system of meaningful scale.
Soma Gold’s Vice President of Exploration, Chris Buchanan, said the extended anomaly strengthens the company’s geological understanding of the Psyche 2 target.
“The continuation of the copper anomaly is an important development for Soma and the Psyche 2 target.
Our team has been mapping and prospecting to determine the geological nature of this significant soil anomaly. We are looking forward to initiating the maiden diamond drill program to further investigate the underlying geology.”
Soma plans to launch a maiden diamond drilling program to test the subsurface continuity of copper and gold mineralization beneath the soil anomaly.
The drilling is expected to provide the first direct geological information on the structures and mineralization driving the anomaly, and determine the potential for a copper-gold discovery within the Machuca Project.
Soma Gold is a gold producer focused on its adjacent mining operations in Antioquia, Colombia, including the El Bagre and Nechí properties. The Machuca Project, which hosts the Psyche 2 target, forms part of its exploration pipeline in the region.
