Belararox expands Argentina’s TMT copper project with El Faro acquisition in San Juan

Belararox has acquired the El Faro tenement in San Juan, adding 22 sq km to its TMT project and expanding the Toro South copper exploration corridor in Argentina’s Vicuña district.

Australian explorer Belararox has expanded its Toro-Malambo-Tambo (TMT) Project in San Juan, Argentina, after acquiring the El Faro tenement, a move that strengthens its position around the Toro South copper target in the highly prospective Vicuña district. The company said the new ground adds 22 sq km to its landholding and directly adjoins the southern boundary of Toro South, where drilling is already underway.

According to Belararox, the El Faro acquisition extends the Toro South exploration corridor and gives the company greater control over a structural trend it believes could host a significant mineralised system. Executive Director Chris Gale said securing the additional ground helps Belararox maintain control of what it sees as a highly prospective copper system within the district.

El Faro strengthens the Toro South copper target

Belararox said Toro South is being drilled for a shallow epithermal system that may sit above a larger copper porphyry at depth. The company also highlighted a 1.5 km by 1 km surface area with anomalous copper, gold and silver values, suggesting the broader target area could have meaningful scale.

The El Faro tenement is interpreted to lie along the same regional structural corridor as Atex Resources’ Valeriano copper-gold deposit, located about 20 km away. Belararox pointed to that setting as an important geological reason for the acquisition.

TMT grows in one of Argentina’s most watched copper districts

The TMT Project now covers more than 300 sq km in San Juan’s Iglesia department, according to regional mining coverage, placing Belararox in one of the most active copper exploration areas in Argentina. The Vicuña district has attracted growing attention due to the presence of major projects such as Filo del Sol, Josemaría and Valeriano.

That context matters because juniors operating in Vicuña are increasingly trying to secure district-scale positions early, especially where structural corridors may connect multiple targets. This is an inference based on Belararox’s land expansion strategy and the district’s broader exploration momentum.

Acquisition terms and drilling plans

Belararox said El Faro is being acquired from a local owner for US$150,000, payable in three stages: US$50,000 on signing, US$50,000 on transfer of title, and the remaining US$50,000 in monthly instalments over six months.

The company is also advancing drilling at TMT. Belararox has already completed three diamond holes at Toro Central, with results pending, and has mobilized a second diamond drill rig to continue testing the epithermal target during the current field season. At Toro South, the company plans to drill two holes.

Why the El Faro deal matters

The El Faro acquisition is a relatively small transaction in dollar terms, but strategically it gives Belararox tighter control over a key exploration corridor in one of South America’s most competitive emerging copper belts. For the company, it is a land-positioning move designed to support drilling now and preserve upside later. That is an inference based on the location of the tenement, the active drill program and Belararox’s stated rationale.

For San Juan, the deal is another sign that the province continues to attract exploration capital as companies chase new copper discoveries tied to long-term demand from electrification and energy infrastructure.
