Andina Copper has reported new drilling results from its Piuquenes project in San Juan, Argentina, further supporting the potential of a large-scale copper-gold-silver porphyry system with room for growth at depth.
The latest drill hole, PIU09, completed in the Piuquenes East zone, intersected 126 metres grading 0.46% copper, 0.53 g/t gold and 2.14 g/t silver from 529 metres depth. This interval sits within a broader 402-metre zone of continuous mineralization, reinforcing the scale and consistency of the mineralized system.
According to the company, the new results confirm the presence of a large-scale copper-gold-silver porphyry system within the Piuquenes-Altar cluster, one of the most prospective geological areas in San Juan.
One of the most significant aspects of the update is the increase in gold grades and the stronger intensity of the porphyry system at depth. The drilling also identified potassic alteration with bornite, a key geological indicator that may point to a richer mineralized core.
For Andina Copper, these findings suggest that the project could host a higher-grade zone at greater depths, opening a new stage of exploration focused on defining the full size and quality of the deposit.
The company said the mineralized system remains open at depth, increasing the potential for resource growth and strengthening the project’s exploration upside.
This is especially important in porphyry deposits, where continuity of mineralization and improving grades at depth can play a major role in future resource delineation and economic assessment.
At the same time, Andina Copper is continuing to advance a new exploration phase. Drill hole PIU11 has been designed to test the northern continuity of the mineralized system, while a second rig has already started work at Piuquenes North.
In that area, the company is testing a deep geophysical anomaly identified through magnetotelluric studies, a key method used to detect deep mineralized structures and possible magmatic sources linked to the system.
The recent exploration progress is part of Andina Copper’s broader strategy to define the district’s full potential and confirm the relationship between the known mineralized zones and a possible deeper magmatic source.
If confirmed, that geological model could significantly enhance the relevance of Piuquenes within San Juan’s mining sector, a province that continues to strengthen its position as one of Argentina’s leading regions for copper and gold exploration.
With these new drilling results, Andina Copper has reinforced the outlook for Piuquenes as a project with meaningful expansion potential, at a time when global demand for copper and other strategic minerals continues to rise alongside the energy transition.
