Authorities Inaugurate Exponor 2024

Authorities inaugurated the 2024 edition of Exponor, which will take place from June 3 to June 6, with the participation of 32 countries and 1,146 exhibitors.

The president of the Antofagasta Industrial Association, Marko Razmilic, welcomed the national and international guests who gathered in the city of Antofagasta. He highlighted the significant advancements made in the “Pearl of the North,” positioning it as a leader in future renewable energy project investments with an amount of $17 million. 

He also emphasized the city’s role as the principal producer of lithium in Chile. Additionally, he mentioned the historic agreement between Codelco and SQM, which details the steps, rights, obligations, and conditions of the public-private partnership that will take over refined lithium production in the Salar de Atacama from 2025 to 2060.

Finally, Marko announced the projects for the creation of clinical technology and lithium institutes for future generations.

Instead, the governor of Antofagasta, Ricardo Diaz, took charge of the inauguration, delivering a speech about the city's future strategies. 

He highlighted investments in areas such as astronomy which 75% of athe studies are conducted in the Antofagasta region. He also announced the Royalty project, which will create local scholarships to enhance the environmental commitment with local universities and their students.

Following this, the Minister of Economy, Nicolás Grau, highlighted the strong interest of President Gabriel Boric and his call for an emphasis on lithium production and renewable energies. The minister confess of how he is working on accelerating this investment in the production of these resources and on 60 projects that are currently on the waiting list.
